Visit of the Australian delegation at the FCLAB and FEMTO-ST Institute in Belfort to strengthen their cooperation in the field of hydrogen took place on October 6th.

Marie-Cécile PERA – the director of the FCLAB, Professor at the University of Franche-Comté as well as a researcher at the FEMTO-ST Institute. Her research on hydrogen systems for energy will notably feed workshops and discussions around the climate awakening.

Impedance Modelling of Electrochemical Systems – application to PEM fuel cells and supercapacitors short course 

Presentation overview:

The seminary focuses on the modelling of electrochemical devices such as PEM fuel cells and supercapacitors (SCs) and on their characterization using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Impedance modelling is done under the form of equivalent electrical circuits (EECs) in which the individual elements (resistors, capacitances, etc) represent the main physico-chemical phenomena at the material scale underlying the electrical output.
The lecture introduces EIS being one of the main characterization techniques used by the HSE group as it allows in-situ characterization without significant impact on the operation of the analysed system. Some application examples of EIS characterization of PEMFCs and SCs are then presented and discussed in terms of performance and ageing during operation.

The Secretary-General, Deputy Prefect of Belfort visited the premises of the FCLAB at the UTBM (University of Technology of Belfort-Montbéliard), a support and research center on hydrogen which places the territory of Belfort at the heart of international modernity in the field of fuel cell systems (FC) and hydrogen.

The State supports sectors with high potential and has granted a subsidy of €70,000, to increase the performance of the equipment and test means of the PAC platform.

Our interns (high school students) share the daily lives of researchers and technical staff at FCLAB.

The interns find the internship very interesting and beneficial for their professional orientation.
